Adelaide Delgado was born on April 28th, 1923, to parents of Spanish descent. A popular pinup of the 1940s, Adele Mara began her career at 15 as a singer and dancer for Xavier Cugats's show. She even taught John Wayne how to jitterbug for The Fighting Seabees. She appeared in many other films with John Wayne, including Wake of the Red Witch, Flame of the Barbary Coast and Sands of Iwo Jima.

By the late 50s, Adele was winding down her career. Her husband, writer/producer Roy Huggins, always had nice roles for her in his television productions, like Maverick and Cheyenne.
